Redesigning something that’s already successful can be a dangerous proposition. Remember the women that “restored” that Spanish fresco a few months back? The results will often be highly scrutinized. Sometimes, like in the case of the 2013 Ford Fusion, the end product is worth the risk.
Kelley Blue Book thought so highly of the new look 2013 Ford Fusion that KBB.com pegged it as the obvious choice for Best Redesigned Vehicle this year. Over 20 other cars were significantly altered or updated, but the changes Ford made to the Fusion stood out in a crowded field.
“More than a handful of vehicles made the short list of finalists for this year, but ultimately the 2013 Ford Fusionwas named KBB.com’s 2013 Best Redesigned Vehicle with impressive gains in design, technology and fuel economy,” said Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book.
Editors at KBB.com praised the 2013 Ford Fusion for its versatility. Optional engines include a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, 2 turbocharged 4-cylinders, a hybrid with an electric motor and the plug-in Fusion Energi. Dramatic exterior styling is mirrored with an interior steeped in technology.
“Outside, the new Fusion is clearly the hottest-looking car in a class with no fewer than 13 other entrants,” said Nerad. “The interior is just as striking, and a variety of technological enhancements and choice of five powertrains is just icing on the cake. Whatever mix of value, power and fuel efficiency you’re looking for in a mid-size sedan, the new Fusion has it.”
